Hindsight 2020: What we did to ourselves

Like many people, the year 2020 left me scratching my head so much I’m starting to go bald. The virus happened, but worse than that, the demagogues (the Democrat Party, the radicalized mainstream and social media outlets, moronic cultural icons, and the masses of brain-dead vitriolic liberal foot soldiers) happened as well. Yes, we have installed a demented president who most likely finger-banged an intern, embezzled money from China, coerced the Ukrainian government (and admitted as much), and a vice-president who got run out of the Democratic Party primary race right out of the gate. Cities burned for months on end while the “leadership” in the Demagogue Party encouraged the rioters. Science was bastardized in the name of fear and population control (but what do you expect from a cohort of pseudo-intellectuals who consider carbon dioxide a pollutant and believe that life just happened spontaneously), and Americans bent over and took it in the pooper like good little subjects. The whole thing made me question for the first time in my life whether or not our grand social experiment would continue to survive or soon be just a great ash heap sacrificed on the alter of history.

In 2020 we struggled with the COVID virus, dire economic circumstances, and a myriad of misinformation and outright deceptions, but the greatest threat to our Republic is the assault that was and continues to be waged on the very bonds that hold our society together – trust, respect, and a common identity as Americans. At the beginning of the year I would have told anyone who asked that I would have considered myself to have had three real, actual friends. At the beginning of 2021, I have none (I’m not counting my Mom here; I mean, there are convicted murderers on death row whose mothers still visit them weekly). Now I realize that I shed friends like a dog sheds his fur, but these friends have been around for decades, long enough for them to get to know who I really am. Unfortunately, they are all Democrats, and all of a sudden I’m a racist, bigoted, white supremacist or whatever the hell else they categorize Trump supporters as, and the most damnable thing about it, of course, is that none of it is true.

The hallmark trait of any Democrat whether in leadership or just a pion zombie voter, is their absolute sense of superiority. Sadly, this misconception of theirs is rooted in their own self-delusions. Perhaps the most disturbing of my broken friendships was with Caesar. I met him in Louisiana in 1999 and we immediately hit it off. I skipped work to attend his mother’s funeral and was consequently fired, but he was my friend and I wouldn’t have missed that occasion for all the tea in China. Now, Caesar’s family (and subsequently he himself) are black. The only reason I mention this is, well, I’m sure you can figure it out. His family accepted me fully and completely since day one. They showed me the love and hospitality that is the hallmark of the South, despite my melanin deficiency. Through the years, though we haven’t been able to visit in person as often as we would’ve liked. We’ve kept in touch regularly and maintained the mutual respect and, well, love for one another that comes with the term “brother,” which is what we called each other. In fact, the relationship I had with Caesar was by far a closer one than I have ever had with any of my siblings (I’ll get to them later). Even though we have always had vastly different views on politics, we were able to put all of that aside and focus on the things that really mattered – how we treated each other. Thank you 2020 for putting an end to that. It became apparent after Black Lives Matter™ coerced the morally corrupt to bend the knee that America was reaching a boiling point of animosity. I can deal with the NBA players wearing ridiculous names on their uniforms. I can turn them off and tune them out. Sports is not a necessity in life. Human interaction, love, compassion – these are necessary, however, and when the lies begin to infect the hearts and minds of those we care about, turning them against those who care about them, then we have lost our nation. This is apparently what happened to Caesar. Despite knowing me for over 20 years he chose to buy into the ignorance rather than rest assured of the decency that he had come to know in his friend. This self-induced form of dementia is the true pandemic and unfortunately, no vaccine has yet been developed.

It disturbs me greatly to know that not only Caesar and the other friends that I will not specifically detail here, but also my family knew me for so long, knew my heart, and chose not to believe their own eyes, but instead let other people tell them what they should think about me and the millions of other Americans who are intolerant of the lies of the Left. Politics has always been a point of contention between me and my family. Debates between my brothers and me were intense and usually never amounted to anything more than increased tensions. Lately, however, the debates and conversations have dwindled to nothing. Now, it’s important to mention that all of my siblings are significantly younger than I am and that we have never spent very much of our adult lives getting to know each other, despite my best efforts. So unlike most siblings, we are more or less just acquaintances. That’s not to say that we don’t know each other, but what we do know is limited. Sadly, their lack of interest implies one of two things: they are genuinely disinterested in me as a person, or they feel that the descriptions given by the lunatics in the mean-stream media are accurate and suffice as a proper description. They don’t actually see me, they see a figment of delusion, a jabberwocky of sorts out to destroy all that is good and just. But what of the reality?

This corrupted conviction of superiority that the Left holds is the most unconscionable byproduct of the constant demagoguery that is spewed by malicious pundits and absorbed like sponges by their communist hoard. If it were merely that they held their ideas to be supreme that would be expected and tolerable, but in fact, they, like the eugenicists of the past that they idolize, actually believe that they themselves are superior beings and that those who oppose them are not glorious souls, but merely obstacles in their way that must be removed. They have lost their ability to see their political and ideological opposition as individuals with sacred rights. The same type of propaganda machine that turned a nation of decent people into genocidal Nazis eighty years ago is alive and well in America today. I now understand how bankers, doctors and once-respected businessmen and women ended up naked, freezing, starving, or in mass graves. These great historical “cleansing” movements (like the one that has been underway since the Biden syndicate was installed in November) always begin with fear and end with death and destruction. Our current trajectory portends no alternative result.

Now the new rulers want everyone to come together, or rather, to go along with their insanity. Well, you can count me out! I have given much thought to my strained relationships with these people over the years and the conclusion that I have come to is that they just don’t give two shits about anyone or anything that gets in their way. So what do we do about these people? What can be done? Obviously, I intend to speak up, to try and wake up the “woke.” But I don’t see this as having any significant effect. I hardly consider myself to be eloquent enough to be able to untangle the Gordian knots inside those bullet-proof skulls. Nevertheless, I will try. It may seem reasonable that I hold a small level of animosity related to their indifference, but I will never close myself off to anyone. I will however, stop caring, because we aren’t supposed to cast our pearls before the swine.

Because the Left is composed primarily of self-righteous, unprincipled, zealots, and because all of their ideas are corrupt and tainted with malice, their best-laid plans are sure to end in disaster. How do they not understand their folly? Why are the truth, decency, and compassion completely anathema to them? The reality is this: God created a world with laws that cannot be broken, and there is no hope for men who blatantly disregard the immutable nature of the universe. The apostate Left has voluntarily abandoned all of the principles that are the fulcrum upon which our civil society is balanced. Lucifer is well known to have committed the first sin of pride thinking himself equal God, but at least Lucifer recognizes God’s dominion. The Left has gone further than Lucifer in their atrocities as they deny the very existence of God and have no consideration for His providence. They have torn down God’s alter and erected in its place an homage to themselves, the ultimate putrescence of vanity. Unfortunately, they are dragging the rest of us down to Hades with them.
